Journal #3

I cant say for sure if i would or not ever has cosmetic surgery but i know i would just because i don't like something about me that i was born with. my dad flipped a four wheeler a couple years ago and pretty much lost his nose. he had to have cosmetic surgery to have it back, so in that aspect i would. i think that changing your natural body is sort of lyingbut it seems like your leing more to yourself than anyone else. plus i think everybody should be allowed to do what they want so i have no problem with plastic surgery. sooner or later places like Darien, New Canaan and Greenwhich are going to be just like the Stpford wives. everyone will look the same and be perfect. I like having scars and tattoos more than Micheal Jackson's nose. plastic surgery doesn't seem like a great cure to alot of peoples person problems. it seems alot of people are always worrying about one thing that's wrong with there body. whether anyone else would notice or not if it helps that person and makes them feel better i think plastic surgery is good for them. but theres also a lot of cases where it has gone wrong and made the person look alot worse or very sick. in the end there is no easy fix to hating something about your body and i doubt i would ever get plastic surgery unless it was something i needed.

Journal #2

Growing up I was in Stamford until kindergarten there was about 3 white kids in my class. All my friends were black I went to there birthdays, carnivals, everything. Then when I went to Daren my school was 96% percent white. So anybody of another race pretty much had all white kids as friends at least in school. It just seemed like it never really mattered. When I would hang out with my friends from Stamford or Norwalk it seemed like there was more groups of races outside of school but for the most part there was never a real problem. I think now people care more about culture. if someone doesn't like your ideas or who you prey to it makes them hate you more than because of your skin color. most gangs fight are about where they live now. most of the time it has nothing to do with race.
I think its good to do have different ethnicity's. I think if we were all the same it would just get boring. we would loose where we came from and what makes us unique. you can learn alot from hanging out with people from different cultures and ethnicity's. So I like to talk to people from different places and find out about them. I'm glad I'm Irish and wouldn't want to be anything else. but its great going to my Italian friends house to have a huge meal with 10 people all the time. I work with a Guatemalan guy and we talk alot about our different cultures. he makes most things into a joke but I can tell how different it is there then here and how his culture and ethnicity made him who he is now.

Journal #1

I think popular culture is good for composition because it allows people to write about alot of different topics and how they are influential to there lives. alot of people don't really like one hundred year old story's or books about stuff that would never happen anymore, so it makes it hard to write about it. I think that anything that people can write about or will be willing to learn about is a good subject to write about and discuss in class. pop culture also represents a very broad range of ideas for people to write about, i really don't think there is a person who cant find something related to it to write about, where as alot of other subjects some people have a very hard time writing about. whether it is because they don't have any interest in the subject, don't know anything about, or just don't like it. I believe alot of times we take popular culture for granted we fell that's things that people have liked for years most be the best, but every artist, writers, painters knows that trys to do better. taking some what they have learned from the people in our past and adding to it. so how can alot of today's work not be great.
