Journal #10

I feel that my papers have improved from the beginning of the class because i get more to the point and can explain my specific ideas better. i think I'm strengths in writing is talking about my opion on the topic. i always have a problem with talking about things i have no interest in. we havent done much in this class to improve writing skills just learn how to format.

journal #9

For the most part i think that peer group editing is useful. it gives you a chance to make corrections to a paper that might have made sense to you. a lot of times when someone else reads a paper it might not flow or read as well as the author thought it did. especially as a group then you'll have multiple people making comments and showing what to do to improve the paper. i also understand that some people don't feel comfortable having other students read over there papers espcaily if it is about something that is emotional to them, so i don't think group editing is always a good idea. There's also times where some people will tell a person to make a correction to a paper and accidentaly make the paper worse not really knowing what they are talking about. i think group editing is just another tool to improve a paper not something that should be mandatory if someone wants to do it than its good for them otherwise they shouldn't have to.

journal #9

I like alot of the main stream horror movies. Im into things that could acually happen, not something that people take way to far. I think for the most part the simplest ones are the ones that people are truely scared of because it makes them look behind there shoulder and freaky out in the dark. I really like the grudes and saws. I also love watching both of the hills have eyes. im not really into vombies, monsters, or aliens none of them seem like horror movies just scifi. i think that horror movies let people kill that sick and twisted part of them out. everyone has atleast alittle bit of syco in them wether they want to admit it or not. i dont know what it is about horror movies that atracks so many people but for some reason people really do like being scared. i think everyone imagines what it would be like to go through having someone trying to kill you and all your friends and what you would acually do. atleast everyones should know if someone is trying to kill you to turn around because they are always behind you.

Journal #6

Whenever I hear "the boys are back in town" I remember going dirtbiking with all my friends. one day me and my friend were watching navy seals, and the song came on. we both decided to get on our 4wheelers and race around in the snow and kept singing it. it sounds weird now but it was alot fun when i was 8. so from then on whenever we would ride together which was about every week. would always sing it. eventually our other friends caught on. so there would be about 6 kids riding around this big rock quarry singing "the boys are back in town" my buddy Tim Leasard would always were his iPod when he rode and wasn't like the rest of us so he never sang but still whenever I hang out with any of them i always remember that song.

Jounal #4

i think people get tattoos and piercings to stand out from other people. most people don't want to be just like everyone else and having tattoos and piercing used to be the best way to do that. now everyone wants them because of Miami ink and the other 10 shows that show people getting horrible tattoos just so they can be one camera. alot of people get ink now for because the say its art. but that's not why tattoos were started. tattoos used to be worn be warriors to instill fear in there enemies and show that the person with them demands respect. people used them in prison to show the higharcy of the gang they were in specific tats meant certain things. old school Latinos did the same thing every tattoo had a certain meaning behind it and if you got the ink just because you wanted it you'd get your ass kicked. Bikers are one of the most commonly know with ink. if you see a guy with a comb web with a spider in it means he killed in jail. people in the military have always been getting tattoos but for the most part you don't notice them because you cant be active if you have a tattoo that your uniform wont cove. i have one tattoo right now. its a Celtic cross on my rib cage. i got for my cousin who passed away on a ATV accident. i always thought id go out in a way like that. Ive been in a good amount. so i got to remind myself to calm down.

Journal #5

I'm not a strong writer. i don't like to write or come with idea to write about. however i believe that when i can choose my own topic to write about that i can make a good flowing paper, that gets my point across. At my high school we did alot of writing and reviewing and i could never really understand how to make a good paper but as long as we got to pick the topic i could get a descant grade. whenever the teacher assigns a topic i usually just try to fill in the paper and end up with alot of run on sentences and usually drift away from the main idea. most of the paper would have nothing to do with the topic of the paper. or i would repeat the same idea multiple times just using different words. i never really understood why i have trouble writing papers. I'm great at arguing with my friends and i can easily get my point across when I'm talking but as soon as i have to put it on paper it sounds awful.

Journal #3

I cant say for sure if i would or not ever has cosmetic surgery but i know i would just because i don't like something about me that i was born with. my dad flipped a four wheeler a couple years ago and pretty much lost his nose. he had to have cosmetic surgery to have it back, so in that aspect i would. i think that changing your natural body is sort of lyingbut it seems like your leing more to yourself than anyone else. plus i think everybody should be allowed to do what they want so i have no problem with plastic surgery. sooner or later places like Darien, New Canaan and Greenwhich are going to be just like the Stpford wives. everyone will look the same and be perfect. I like having scars and tattoos more than Micheal Jackson's nose. plastic surgery doesn't seem like a great cure to alot of peoples person problems. it seems alot of people are always worrying about one thing that's wrong with there body. whether anyone else would notice or not if it helps that person and makes them feel better i think plastic surgery is good for them. but theres also a lot of cases where it has gone wrong and made the person look alot worse or very sick. in the end there is no easy fix to hating something about your body and i doubt i would ever get plastic surgery unless it was something i needed.
